The State Fair of Texas has taken place at the historic Fair Park almost every year since 1886 and is one of the best attended state fairs in the US. To kick off the fair, a parade rolls through the streets of downtown Dallas to mark the opening of the fair. The saying “everything is bigger in Texas” describes everything that the state fair has to offer. We’re here to help you be part of the fun and to make the most of your trip to the state fair.
When do tickets go on sale and where can you buy them? Advance tickets are available now online through their site. Tickets can also be bought after the first of September at any North Texas Kroger Food Store.

Season Passes get you into the fair every day of the duration of the fair. With this pass you have the perks of free state fair gear, discounts, a ticket for a friend, and more.
Groups of 20 or more can be purchased in advance to save 39% on ticket prices.
In order to ride the rides ride coupons are required. You can purchase coupons online in advance (7 days in advance to ensure delivery) or at the multiple booths at the fairgrounds. If you are more of a game person then a Big Tex Game Card is required. You can purchase these at kiosks or booths near the gaming area. Got kiddo under 2? Kidway has rides suitable for young children ages 2 and younger.
There is a lot to mention when talking about all the entertainment that the state fair has to offer. There is the Auto Show which showcases 400 of the models from the world’s leading manufacturers, The Cotton Bowl College Football Games, Daily shows such as pig races, BMX bike stunts, and dancing dogs as well as Live Shows and plenty of fun for the family!
